Rolph H. Miller

Background: Rolph H. Miller built the McClure Hall in 1900.  It was named after Edgar McClure.  After that, Edgar McClure came back to teh University to teach chemistry.  So Miller was a famous architect in that time.  Edgar was a UO graduate, and died climbing Mt. Rainier. 

How did it change America: The McClure Hall was opened in 1900.  It was named after a person named Edgar McClure, a UO graduate who taught chemistry at the University.      He died climbing Mt. Rainier in 1897.  But Rolph H. Miller built the McClure Hall after him.

Why was it important: Edgar McClure was an important person, and it was important that Rolph Miller came along and built the McClure Hall.  It was a good remembrance of Edgar McClure.  Rolph Miller was a famous architect.
